Dean MacDonald is the songwriter and rhythm guitarist in Coventry band The Session. With over 400 gigs behind him with his female fronted band over the last 13 years and with 5 original albums he has now decided it’s about time he plays an acoustic set on his own. In his own words…..”I’m really looking forward to getting out and playing on my own at Warwick Folk Festival, being in a band is all very safe and I’m not really a frontman and I tend to leave all the crowd interaction to our lead vocalist in our band so this will be something new for me.” www.thesession.info
Kitty Macfarlane is a 21 year old songwriter from Somerset whose lyrics combine honest snippets of everyday humanity with the bigger questions that have connected minds and voices for centuries. She was recently shortlisted for the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award. From the Colston Hall to folk clubs up and down the land, Kitty has performed both on her own and as support for some wonderful artists including Reg Meuross, Isambarde and Feast of Fiddles (where she was accompanied by Steeleye Span’s Peter Knight). Kitty hosts a regular radio show called Pop Up Folk and her own ‘Bus Song’ received airtime when it was featured on BBC Radio4 http://www.facebook.com/kittymacfarlane
